Ocean breezes, sand, water – the Rosemary Beach community has it. Once you’ve worked on your tan and splashed around a bit, spice up your trip with a little adventure. No matter how you want to get an adrenaline rush, there’s something in the area for you to enjoy. Read on below to see our favorite things to do near Rosemary Beach for an adventurous journey.
Airboat Tour with 30A Airboat Adventures
Fly across the Florida waters on a one-of-a-kind airboat tour. Cut through the serene landscape and spot wildlife on the Choctawatchee River, third-largest river in Florida (in terms of water volume discharged). Bring your camera, sun protection, and an extra layer to combat the wind generated by the fan. The experience is family friendly and there are no age limitations, but parents should consider the safety of their little ones before booking.
Parasailing
See Rosemary Beach and the surrounding area from a bird’s perspective. Take to the air from behind a boat. Parasailing is a unique way to see any area, soaring above the water from behind a specially designed boat with large “flight deck” for takeoff and landing. Ask about age and height or weight restrictions before booking.
SCUBA Diving
There are nearby gear rental companies if you’re confident in your skills and certified, or there are companies like family-owned and operated 30A Dive. Run by a husband and wife team, the company offers a two-day diver certification class, a ‘try diving’ experience with no certification required, freediving, and spearfishing excursions. All necessary gear needed for the dive is included in your fee.
On the Water
Visit one of the many companies offering rentals or bring your own gear and hit the water. SUPs, kayaks, surf boards and other equipment and lessons are available for the seasoned veteran or the fish out of water getting their feet wet for the first time.
Jet Ski Rentals at Adventures at Sea
You’ll need a boater safety class under your belt, but the rental company can help you with that. Before you set out on the company’s 2-hour guided tour, or rent one for use outside of the tour, you can take the course right at the marina. Once you’re certified, take off and explore Shell Island, see wild dolphins, see the sights of St. Andrews State Park, and more as you speed across the open water or take the tour, helmed by experienced local guides, at a bit of a slower pace. These tours are for patrons 5 years old and up, but you must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license to drive.
Shark Fishing
Deep sea fishing is an adventure many people may think of when coming to Rosemary Beach and the surrounding area, but there’s a thrill like no other that anglers needing a larger shot of adrenaline might consider. Sharks are, indeed, fish, and there are area companies that will take you out to sea in search of one. Unlike most fishing excursions which take place during the early morning or while the sun is shining, shark fishing tours take place during the dark of night. Most companies include all the gear, bait, and tackle you need.
